Plants

This week we are studying Plants - making observations, learning the parts of plants, and studying the life cycle of a plant. Today we began our week by reading the book "From Seed to Plant" by Gail Gibbons, one of my favorite nonfiction authors. Following the book, we brainstormed a list of words we could use to describe plants. Then...we became Plant Hunters!

Students each got a magnifying glass and a recording sheet, and our class took a trip to the greenhouse to begin our observations. After making notes on a number of different pre-chosen plants, we returned to our classroom to share our observations. Tomorrow we will wrap up today's work by matching up our collective notes with images of the plants to check our work and discuss any inconsistencies in our notes.
