When bossy e comes to town he is sneaky and silent, but he is rude too! He makes all the vowels say their name, then he just hides at the end of the word! This is a way to help students see how the sounds of the vowels in CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words change when they become CVCe words. After learning about bossy e and making an anchor chart together, students completed a brief bossy e activity. They had to add an 'e' to the end of various words, read the words out loud, then determine if the word was real or nonsense.
Help your child to become a stronger reader and writer by pointing out bossy e words whenever you see them!
