Author Visit - Lynn Plourde

This week at Asa Adams we were so lucky to have author, Lynn Plourde visit us! She held a whole school assembly where she read us two books aloud, then had a few students help her make one book into a play! It was fun for the whole school. Plus, we had one lucky member of our class become a part of the play!!

The day following the assembly, we had a 45 minute, small-group session with Lynn Plourde with just our class and Mrs. Oldenburgh's second grade class. This was a nice time to learn more from Lynn Plourde about her writing and her books, without the whole school together. She read us a book called A Mountain of Mittens and taught us about word patterns and action patterns within texts. We learned some hand movements to go along with the book and listened to the story while also being pattern detectives! At the end of the story our two classes combined were able to find 7 different word/action patterns in the book.
